How the play works
- 11 dribbles towards the wing; 2 slides down to the corner. 4 waits behind the zone, 5 is at the high post.
- 2Pass to 2 in the corner: the outside bottom defender has to come out.
- 34 steps into the short corner (halfway between the lane and the corner, by the baseline) and gets the pass from 2.
- 4When the centre comes over to 4, 5 dives down the lane for the pass and the layup. If nobody comes, 4 turns and shoots.
Coaching points
- Short corner: catch and look to the middle first
- 5: dive as the pass goes to the short corner, hands ready
- Be patient: one more pass usually opens it
