Equipment: 1 ball
How the play works
- 11-3-1 shape: 1 at the top, 2 and 3 on the wings (a step higher and wider than usual), 5 at the free-throw line, 4 behind the zone on the baseline.
- 2Move the ball wing to wing until the pass into 5 at the high post is open.
- 35 catches and turns to face the basket. If the middle defender steps up, 4 ducks into the lane, seals and gets the pass for a layup.
- 4If the bottom defenders pinch in instead, 5 kicks out to a wing for an open shot.
Coaching points
- High post: catch, turn, look low, then look opposite
- 4: stay behind the zone, then duck in with a wide base
- Nobody stands in the lane for 3 seconds
