Defend the Flash Post
A post player flashes from the weak side to the ball-side block or elbow; the defender beats them to the spot and fronts or three-quarters them.

Equipment: 1 ball
How to run the drill
- 1A coach or passer with the ball on the wing. An attacker starts on the weak-side block with a defender in help position.
- 2On the coach's signal, the attacker flashes across the lane to the ball-side block or up to the elbow.
- 3The defender meets the cutter early, body between the cutter and the ball, and takes away the straight-line pass.
- 4If the post gets the ball, play live 1v1. Add a second attacker and defender on the wing to make the pass harder to read.
- 5Rotate after each go: attacker to defence, defender to the back of the line.
Coaching points
- Meet the cutter in the lane, don't chase them to the spot
- Low post: three-quarter on the high side or front, hand in the lane
- Body before ball: contact first, then find the ball
- If you get beaten, stay behind and wall up — no reaching
